Cobram shopper strikes it rich

Cobram Lotto’s Alison Brown and Nicki Triffett celebrate selling another division one-winning ticket at the store.

Those who believe good things come in threes had better get down to Cobram Lotto for the next major Tattslotto draw.
On Saturday, one lucky individual became Cobram’s latest millionaire after buying a winning ticket at the store and will take home $1,030,924.39.
It has been an incredible start to the year for the Punt Rd store. In February, it sold its first division one-winning ticket since 2014.
Fifteen Cobram residents in a long-running store syndicate won a total prize of $1,156,129.25, or $104,008.62 each. Saturday’s winning numbers were 7, 17, 8, 35, 6, 23 and the supplementary numbers were 29 and 30.
The winner is yet to claim the prize.
Cobram Lotto’s Nicki Triffett believes the store may never know who owned the ticket.
‘‘People think you have to claim the ticket in the store where you bought it, but you don’t,’’ she said.
‘‘Some people will go down to Melbourne to collect the winnings in order to remain anonymous.’’
While one lucky customer is in for a massive pay day, it is not the biggest win for a single person store owner Dean Clydesdale has seen in his 15 years of owning the shop.
He said an individual once pocketed $1.4 million.
Mr Clydesdale said he was hoping someone would come in to claim the ticket.
‘‘The person might not even know yet because the ticket is unregistered,’’ he said.
‘‘It could be a gift pack.
‘‘I would urge people to bring in their tickets to get checked.’’
