A 91-year-old Cobram woman is recovering in Shepparton Hospital’s intensive care unit after a two-car collision near Barooga yesterday.
Two cars were travelling north on the Stan Collie Causeway at 10.15am when a pilot vehicle escorting a large truck carrying demountable buildings allegedly veered into their path.
A 67-year-old man from Tocumwal told police he pulled to the left to avoid the oncoming vehicle and collided with the second car, driven by the woman.
The man escaped without injury and the woman was taken to Shepparton Hospital with a fractured sternum.
The pilot vehicle and the truck did not stop.
Police are appealing for witnesses with information about the crash and are also asking for the drivers of the truck and pilot vehicle to also contact them.
